When: April 20th-June 22nd, Saturdays from 2:30pm-3:30pm
(We will have a couple of extra rehearsals thrown in towards the end of the semester)
Cost: $200 for a weekly ten-class semester (costumes included!)
Drama Games and Acting Technique, Improv, Pantomime, & More
We will culminate in a theater performance based on a children’s book or story.
Sonia Lee Garber has many years of experience working with children ages 5-17, with a special affinity for younger children.
Children do not need to know how to read for this class, we will work in a manner of call and response, so that the young actors can feel confident saying their lines.
She has been with Antonia Arts for 5+ years providing fun and educational programs for children and teens.
Garber has an A.A.S. from Westchester Community College in Visual and Performing Arts, and a B.S. in Communications with a Minor in Theater and Performance from SUNY Purchase, NY. Garber has many years of training as an actor; her most recent training was a Professional Intensive at The Barrow Group in NYC.
Garber has performed regionally as well as Off-off Broadway.
Some of the drama classes she has taught for Antonia Arts include Shakespeare for Kids and The Stanislavski Acting Method for Kids. Garber also enjoys doing Improvisation, and drama games and activities with children and teens.
Garber’s drama classes culminate in performances by the students for family and friends, so that the students can feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. Garber writes plays and also uses written works and children’s books, both original and/or adapted for the stage.
